Category:  Press Releases 2017

On 4 April at the 2017 Plenary Meeting of  the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR) in Tokyo Japan Donald Cockburn, Managing Director of AOA, was one of twenty two signatories to the IFIAR Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMOU). AOA was approved as a signatory to the MMOU after a review by IFIAR and approval by IFIAR membership. The MMOU allows for co-operation in the exchange of information between audit regulators around the world. Approval of AOA as a signatory is a sign of the growing stature of the Cayman Islands in the audit regulatory world. Among the 22 signatories are audit regulators from the UK, US, Canada, France, Netherlands Australia and fifteen other countries.

The AOA has been an IFIAR member since February 2014.

The International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR) was established on 15 September 2006 by independent audit regulators from 18 jurisdictions.  Since its creation, IFIAR’s membership has grown in light of the establishment of new independent audit regulators in different jurisdictions around the globe, bringing together independent audit regulators from a total of 52 jurisdictions. IFIAR focuses on the following activities:

1. Sharing knowledge of the audit market environment and practical experience of independent audit regulatory activity with a focus on inspections of auditors and audit firms,
2. Promoting collaboration and consistency in regulatory activity, and
3. Providing a platform for dialogue with other international organizations that have an interest in audit quality.
